"Amazing Grace"
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

"In Place Of You"
In place of a brick wall you made a window
In place of a dark hall you painted a mural
Where there was only weeds you raised a garden
And if I've failed to notice I'm sorry darling
If you were gone what would I do?
'Cause no one could ever take the place of you
If you should go where would I be?
In place of you, an empty space for me
In place of wandering blind you put direction
In place of squandering my love and affection
You built a place for me, where I could store it
And I'm eternally grateful for it
If you were gone what would I do?
'Cause no one could ever take the place of you
If you should go where would I be?
In place of you, an empty space for me
There is so much from what I've gathered
To put in place of these things you think you need
In place of emptiness you put fulfillment
In place of bitterness you put endearment
Where there was only weeds you raised a garden
And if I've failed to notice I'm sorry darling
If you were gone what would I do?
'Cause no one could ever take the place of you
If you should go where would I be?
In place of you, an empty space for me

"Visions Of Johanna"
Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're
tryin' to be so quiet ?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doin our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handfull of rain, tempting you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing really nothing to turn of
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind.
In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's
bluff with the key chain
And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the D-train
We can hear the night watcman click his flashlight
Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane
Louise she's all right she's just near
She's delicate and seems like the mirror
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face
Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place.
Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously
And when bringing her name up
He speaks of a farewell kiss to me
He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all
Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall
Oh, how can I explain ?
It's so hard to get on
And these visions of Johanna they kept me up past the dawn.
Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"
Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule
But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel.
The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending
to care for him
Saying, "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go
out and say a prayer for him"
But like Louise always says
"Ya can't look at much, can ya man "
As she, herself prepares for him
And Madonna, she still has not showed
We see this empty cage now corrode
Where her cape of the stage once had flowed
The fiddler, he now steps to the road
He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed
On the back of the fish truck that loads
While my conscience explodes
The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain
And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain.

Down goes the river
Down to the south
I've lot my ring
I've lost my soul
Go, sailor, go, but don't inquire
where I have hidden my own heart!
My heart is there there there
in no man's land.
Down go the winds
down goe the clouds
I've lost my ring
I've lost my soul
Down goes the river
Down to the south
I'll never see again my ring, my ring,
I've fore ever lost my soul, my soul.

Loving Him Was Easier (Than Anything Ill
Ever Do Again)
I have seen the morning burning golden on the
mountain in the sky
Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies
Turning on the world the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying
Healing as the colors in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes
Waking in the morning to the feeling of her fingers
on my skin
Wiping out the traces of the people and the places that I've been
Teaching me that yesterday was something that I never thought of
trying
Talking of tomorrow and the money, love and time we had to spend
Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again
Coming close together with a feeling that I've
never know before,in my
time
She ain't ashamed to be a woman or afraid to be a friend
I don't know the answer to the easy way she opened every door in
my mind
But dreaming was as easy as believing it was never gonna end
And Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again
